Never allow failure to deter you! – MAIN LESSON
November 19, 2009- This week I learnt mainly the skill of not giving up even when it looks like answers are not forthcoming. I was doing my Data Analysis module when after presenting my problems to my tutor it emerged that the problems I was experiencing were a result of non essential errors being generated by the Oracle software. I learnt that no matter what the problem is, as long as the query is correct, the script will always execute accurately. I also learnt that though this is true, sometimes the server containing the script making software may be experiencing. This possibility still does not invalidate the fact that scripts will always work irrespective. This main lesson gave me a positive awaken ness which has made me to become inwardly motivated, which motivation I was now losing over the past few days. This motivation is a necessary requirement for studying.
What was bad?
Although I later learnt and rejuvenated myself, I had given up too early.
How could I have avoided this?
According to frymulti.com, “Learner motivation is one of the most important components of learning in all formal and informal settings. Some students naturally seem motivated to learn; others need inspiration and stimulation,” Dennis R Buckmaster, Natalie J Carroll, (2008) However, I should not wait to be motivate by anyone but should learn to create self motivation despite the distractions that may be surrounding me. This was my main weakness in 2008 and I shall not repeat it.
